Intuitive Eaters learn how to distinguish between physical and emotional feelings, and gain a sense of body wisdom. It is also a process of making peace with food-so that there is no longer constant “food worry” thoughts. It’s knowing that health and worth as a person do not change, because a food was labeled as “bad” or “fattening”.
Our students who have more significant struggles with body image and eating disorder behaviors also participate in a class we call, “Healthy is the New Skinny.” This class takes a more direct approach in working with girls who have more significant struggles with the complex problems related to body image and disordered eating, and provides them with education, skills and support in managing these challenges more effectively. All of these classes are led by our Nutritionist/Registered Dietician.
