Finding Help at Journey Home Young Adult
Journey Home Young Adult is a small, transitional living program for young women ages 18-23. As a sister program to Solstice West RTC, we offer a supportive yet independent living situation specifically designed to meet the needs of our young adult population. Our goal is for each of our students to become thriving, successful young women that are ready for their next phase of life. We focus on an individualized approach to treatment, to ensure that each young woman is emotionally and physically healthy while also learning the skills she needs to live independently.
We recognize that no two young women are the same. That’s why our program starts with an individualized therapeutic treatment plan with goals, tasks and a timeline unique to each student’s situation and needs. Our students typically attend school while building the skills they need to successfully launch into young adulthood. This includes skills like budgeting, gaining employment, time management, meal preparation, transportation, and appropriate recreation and downtime activities.
Our goal is to create a supportive and enriching experience for all the young women at Journey Home Young Adult. We do this with structured yet flexible weekly schedule that includes group recreational and cultural activities along with plenty of solo time for studying, work, volunteering, and mentorship.
Who We Help
We specialize in working with young women that have made strides in a previous treatment setting before coming to Journey Home Young Adult. In working with young women ages 18-23, we have been able to tailor the program to meet the specific needs of this population. We know that each young woman that comes to us has a unique personality, history, and background. In order to illustrate the types of issues we have been successful with, here are some of the presenting diagnoses that we see at Journey Home Young Adult:
- Depressive and anxiety disorders
- PTSD or unresolved trauma
- Identity development
- Poor relationship skills & boundaries
- Body image issues
- Mood disorders
- ADD/ADHD and other learning issues
- Low motivation
- Low self esteem
As our students have already made positive steps in a previous placement, there may just be some pieces of these issues that need continued work. Before coming to Journey Home Young Adult, we require at least six (6) months of sobriety.
